Any Nominee who by outstanding achievement has attained prominence in any field of Sport, or has made a major contribution to the development and advancement of sport in Collingwood and District brought honour to Collingwood is eligible for election to the Collingwood Sports Hall of Fame. Player candidate must have concluded their careers as an active player for a minimum of five (5) years before their election, except where by reason of Committee, made in advance, the Board of Governors may reduce such waiting period. Notwithstanding the foregoing, an athlete who has reached his/her 50th birthday will be eligible for nomination and consideration by the Selection Committee without any waiting period whether or not he/she is still active as an competitor. This is in recognition of the fact that many outstanding athletes continue to compete in various sports (golf, tennis, bowling, curling, shooting, etc..) long after their peak competitive years. Builder and Team candidates may be either active or inactive at the time of their selection.
